Family Mythologies (2023)
Family Mythologies is a series of works in which I explore issues of identity, memory and the past in a family context. Starting from personal family stories and myths, I deal with how we are shaped by the past in which we did not participate and how other people’s memories are transmitted and maintained through generations. Intimate narratives thus become a way for me to question traditions, patterns and norms, but also to open questions of collective memory and experience. The works July 32, White Bee, Memory Objects, Macondo and Knife Pointed Up are part of this work and an additional series created during the research.
